As part of the NY Metropolitan Traffic Council (NYMTC), Rockland County is located in a severe ozone and carbon monoxide (CO) non-attainment area and is required to implement measures that contributed to declining vehicle emissions of ozone precursors, hydrocarbons, CO, NOx, and volatile organic compounds (VOC).
UNIQUE HIGHLIGHTS
Applied the NYMTC Best Practice Model to evaluate signal timing and traffic progression
Used Synchro 6.0 software to create traffic models
Signal progression was evaluated in combination with both vehicular and pedestrian safety
Provided traffic data collection, existing condition analysis, signal timing improvements, and project recommendations
