Chas. H. Sells named Commissioner Public Works, County of Westchester, NY

1949

Chas. H. Sells named Commissioner
Port of New York Authority

1953

The Rochester, NY - County of Monroe Civic Center project began. SELLS provided project management

1954

Acquisition of Cohen Engineering

1956

Awarded the Design of the Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287 project) which encompassed over 40 structures and 8 miles of interstate

1962

SELLS professionals enhanced the Original “COGO” System developed by MIT

1963

Completed design of The Niagara Falls
Grade Crossing Elimination

1965

SELLS was preparing topographical mapping for surveying subdivisions in Westchester Co., NY

1969

SELLS selected to provide photogrammetry services on U.S. Route 9W – Lake Katrine project (one of many 1960s photogrammetry projects)

1983

SELLS selected to provide inspection,
in-depth repairs, & design for the
322 span, 3.5 mile elevated
Gowanus Viaduct project

1990

SELLS opened an office in Charlton, MA
and moved photogrammetry services
to this location

1999

SELLS collaborated with Software Developer to develop NASIS Bridge Inspection software.
SELLS opened New Hampshire office.

2000

SELLS piloted the NYSDOT BIPPI Bridge Inspection software in Region 9

2000

SELLS opened its first
North Carolina office, initially offering photogrammetry & survey services

2001

SELLS added engineering services
to its North Carolina operations

2003

SELLS opened its third North Carolina office located in Mooresville, NC

Ranked by ENR as one of the top 25 bridge engineering firms in the country

2005

SELLS celebrates
its 80th year of service

SELLS opens offices in Newark, NJ;
Boston, MA; Melville, NY; and Williamsburg, VA

2007

SELLS Merges with Leading
International Firm
On October 1, 2007, SELLS announced that it merged with the WSP Group, a 10,000 person consulting engineering firm based in the U.K. WSP SELLS will lead the WSP Group's growth of Transportation and Infrastructure in the U.S.
